Although this book contains many pages of sleeve and collar styles to go with the assortment of bodice and skirt designs, you're not limited to what you see on these pages. You can use your imagination to come up with designs or copy patterns from pattern books or copy ready-to-wear dresses you see on the dress racks.
I always carry a small note pad in my purse so that when I see a dress that someone is wearing, or in a department store or pattern book that I like, I immediately sketch it in my note pad. When I get home I match the collar style to one in this book, then match the type of sleeves to one in this book as well as the bodice style (fitted, semi-fitted, loose, etc.), then put those pattern pieces that I've made according to my measurements together and presto! A perfectly fitting dress that looks exactly like the one that I've sketched.
Sometimes people would rather use styles that are already made up so that they can visualize what it will look like on them "as is" without having to change around the collars, sleeves, etc. That's fine too -- there are pages and pages of dress styles in this book for you to choose from. You'll never have to have two dresses the same!
